Nice pics.

Jay, were you over on Irvington Rd. for those shots? I scouted the area on Thursday and didn't see what I thought was a good place to shoot. I did spend some time on Wilmot St. at the end of the runway on Thursday afternoon and caught a couple of A-10s coming it.

Spent some time on Irvington just west of Swan (basically show center South) but moved to Wilmot when they flipped the runway.

Thanks Jon...I have issues with electronics... :(
What is acronis? You're in West Wing.... we are pretty close to you down the hill... lol..

You're wife is so cute... you need to start working on your shot list for her maternity photos... and newborn.. :D what an amazing time in your lives...

acronis is a program for backing up files, system states etc. So if my computer crashes I use acronis to restore my system back to however the system was when the backup image was created.

thanks, I definitely would love to get a shot list for maternity photos & newborn shots - i've never done either of them before, where would I start or begin I know you and Frank are pretty proficient in doing it. any pointers would be great - if you do any mentoring let me know since your right down the hill;)

Hey guys my parents are buying a new Digital Rebel T3i tomorrow and they are buying the body only. I am trying to recommend a lens for them $300 is their budget for a lens, and just wanted to see what you all may recommend. They will be using it mainly for indoor use to get pictures of my little sister playing basketball. So it will be lower light and they will need a slightly faster lens. I'm sure f/2.8 is out of their budget so f/3.5 will probably have to do the trick. Something with a decent zoom to get those long shots and they also want something kind of wide for everyday portrait use.

I was thinking the Sigma 18-200mm from B&H for $279 or the Sigma 28-300mm at B&H for $299. Any other lenses, 3rd party or Canon branded will do.

I told them to get the T2i instead, it's $150 cheaper now that the T3i is out. Basically the same camera but only does 720p vs 1080p video and a few other slight minimal differences.

Superb pics matrix311. I liked the first and 6th pic a lot.

Hope you like this cropped version of the 6th pic. I removed some distraction from the background, applied some sharpening and converted it to B/w.

Thr T3i looks good. I am sure your parents would find the flip screen more useful on the T3i.

well, if you have any space on the permit... I'd be more than happy to sherpa some gear...

I wish I could extend the offer, but I only have a permit for one person. :)

Monument Valley isn't really that far away. A couple of hours drive. April's a great time to hit the Wave. I went when it was snow covered, and need to reapply for another trip maybe next spring. You're pretty lucky. Hopefully the weather will be nice. Have a great and safe trip..!!

I hit the area back in July (external link)
.

You know I just recently was looking that up. I now have a tour planned with Tom Phillips to go up to Hunts Mesa for the sunset, camp overnight, and be there for the sunrise. Your photos are amazing, thanks for sharing. I know that April is soon for light beams in the Antelope Canyon, still I can't help but hope!

I wasn't aware that the South Rim and Desert View were so close as well. Going to do my best to squeeze that in as well. I'm not going to able to walk after this trip, but it'll be worth it. I'm going to need a vacation from my vacation!
