Anyone think these are a good price/value? Looking to start with a decent kit and haven't had any feedback on the interfit/mettle brand so I've been looking at this kit to get started. Any feedback is welcome.

I have several flashpoint pieces of gear and am satisfied with the quality. If their offerings were of poor quality I'm sure there would be plenty of complaints here in the forum. I am fairly sure their products are not top of the line but suitable for starting out until you know for sure what specialized components you are going to use and need to do your work.

You say Flashpoint kit, but dont say which kit? Personally, I have 5 flashpoint budget 160 monos, their remote trigger and receivers, and a snoot, barndoor and stands. Their lights are fine, as is the snoot and remotes. The barndoor stinks and the stands are pretty cheap as well. Overall, I personally feel that their overall product line is good just watch out for the stands and barndoor.

I just ordered a 160 kit with softbox, as well as the flashpoint remote trigger. There are lots of good comments both on and off the adorama site about the flashpoint units. If this works out well, I will be getting some of their larger units for portrait work.

Edit: Just got shipping confirmation on the stand only, the monolight unit, softbox, and trigger are all backordered. damn

I currently use a pair of flashpoint II 1220 monlights. They work great ,they do seam big compared to other monolights. Should have the flashpoint 86" knock off plm to test on thursday. For there cheap price i think the monolites are a good bang for the buck.

Sorry I forgot which ones to say I was looking at. Here's the
I would really like to get started practicing before the family gets together for the holidays. I don't really know if the weaker kits would be enough when shooting 3-5 maybe up to 7 people at a time. So feel free to let me know if I need to go higher or lower on my lighting budget. Would one powerful light be enough? I am a real NOOB on this subject so please help if you can. My budget is $500-$600 max by the way.

Thorrulz I have been using two flashpoint II 150 as back and hair lights and a mettle 300 watt as main for a few years now without any problems. The mettle and flashpoint are made by the same company. The advantage of the mettle is that it has a bowen mount and has more accessories available. For groups of five to seven 300 watts may be a better choice.

Thanks, everyone has been very helpful. So the Bowens mount is more versatile? I thought about looking at the Softlighter 2 modifier. So it would work on the Mettle because of the mount. I'll try to do some research on my own in the morning, but it's about time to go to bed. Had a long day.
