what can i do to make this picture better?

I like it, but feel like something is off.. Thoughts?

I think a levels adjustment in photoshop would help. Effectively it would add some contrast. As it is the blacks are not black, and the whites only close to white. You have to be careful as the right side of her face is a bit hot, you dont want to lose it.

Agree with the others plus the background is distracting.

Add some contrast and I think it will look a ton better. Cute pic :-)

Agreed. White balance. the baby is biege and the whites of her eyes are gray, thats a decent sign the WB is off. Was this shot in AWB? if so it compensates with 18% gray i believe. Kinda makes it look like it has a transparent thin film over the picture. Some PP could propably fix that with ease. The catch light is a bit faint, I would sharpen the eyes some too. baby is very cute though. nice candid.

Contrast, WB, and perhaps a little editing to take the reflection out of her eyes. They're the focal point of the picture, but the reflections are more distracting than a catchlight.
