I was recently the recipient of a nice cash windfall (stock options and a corporate buy-out). I've always wanted a good camera, so I ordered a 7D kit with the 28-135mm lens. According to UPS, it'll be here tomorrow. I've been busy lurking here for the past week, and now I'm licking my chops at the prospect of breaking in this bad boy. I guess I know what's on tap for me this weekend. :D

Welcome to the club, and welcome to the forum - you'll love both. I hope it was a nice windfall because there'll be a lot of goodies you'll want to go with the new camera. lol

Congratz and welcome, the 7D is an excellent camera! I am sure you will have a fun time learning to use it!

You've just purchased the best camera for that price. Welcome!

so I ordered a 7D kit with the 28-135mm lens

You will find rather quickly that 28mm is not nearly wide enough on the 7D. You will be back soon looking for advice on how to spend even more cash. :)

You don't say what kit you have used before but whatever it is I am sure you will love the 7D. I've had mine for just about a year and it is my favourite. As someone has already said, say goodby to your cash there is a long way to go yet - like the ef-s 17-55 f2.8, the 70-200 f4 or f2.8, the 580EXii, perhaps the.............?

I was afraid of that. Oh well, it's only money. I'm not planning on taking it with me.
