Was looking for a good product photography book. There are just a handful on Amazon, some with steller reviews, but only a few reviews. Wondered if any of you have bought one that you really liked.

Mainly interested in small products, mostly macro work. I'm interested in lighting setups for the most part. I use off camera strobes as my light source right now.

"Light: Science and Magic" is one of the most recommended photography books I know of, and I think it should be one of the first books you read for info/insight into product photography.

It doesn't deal specifically with using mirrors/fingers/etc, however it DOES teach you all there is to know about photographing just about any type of material, surface, and shape. This is absolutely priceless in mastering product photography.

Thanks for the recommendation. Even some of the customer images look cool. It's on my wishlist now!

What about the Hot Shoe Diaries?

If I recall Hot Shoe Diaries is more a Joe McNelly using Speedlights for shots kind of thing.
Not sure how much is oriented toward product photography.

I'll second this.

Agreed. Wouldn't really have anything to do with product photography.

Great, sounds like the Light: Science and Magic is the book to get. Thank you!
