Help Please

Hi all,

Would appreciate greatly any assistance here - I have recently purchased a Canon 350D and have to set-up an area to photograph audio products (can vary between 10" and 50' in height). I am looking for lighting and lenses that are ideal for fairly close-up images.

Had been advised to look at Wide Angle L Series 17/40 L, 50mm Fisheye, Prime 50mm 1.4.

Have purchased a reasonable tripod and the beauty of a 17" Apple PowerBook linked up to the Canon.

Any other pointers would be gratefully appreciated.

Fifty foot objects close up!!!! Forget 50mm lenses. You need as wide as they come. I would not use fish-eye because the effect is not likely what you are looking for. The XP kind of puts you behind the eight ball because of its 1.6X crop factor which makes any wide angle less 60% less wide. I dont know your budget but hope you have an expense account as what you need wont be cheap. I would consider zooms because of the vast range of objects being photographed. I would look at Canon 16-35 L, 17-40L and or 10-22 EFS. As for lighting I assume you want an on camera flash like the 580 EX. If you want soft boxes and umbrellas someone else needs to help you with that...
