Hi There
I need help to build a price list for a client. I am from Canada, our prices pretty similar to US.
The Client is a Granite Company makes Kitchens, bathrooms and fireplaces. They want me to do 30-40 different location shots. It will be a kitchen or a bathroom or a fireplace per location. They didn't tell me how many pictures they want per location. They wanna see my offer first. It is going to be for their website. But also it is 3 hour drive from my place to their locations. So they can maybe make 2 appointments a day or something.
It is a big one, I don't wanna miss it, what would you offer?? Would you say per location or hourly? Because it is a big job what kind of package would be interesting for them?
thanks for your help guys, I need it

I would shoot hourly and the travel would be included as billable time. As far as what to charge, that's really only something you can determine because you must put a price on your time.

You want to be looking at charging a day rate plus expenses (including travel).

I agree. 10 hours my door & back to my door. If they're organized so you can shoot more than 1-2 a day, they get more for their money. If not, then not.

They didn't tell me how many pictures they want per location. They wanna see my offer first.

That's BS. Don't try to make a detailed quote without a shot list from them. At this point, you don't know which way the buildings face, which way the windows in the rooms that you have to shoot face, etc., so you're just guessing on how much time it will take. They're trying to take advantage of that.

I would create an hourly rate for your photography and and hourly rate for travel(often 50% less). Then you must add exenses for travel. There is probably a Canada established rate per mile for car travel expenses. Create an estimate of photo and travel time for the jobs, but be clear that time will be billed based on actual spent time as directed by the client an neccessary to complete the job. Do not provide a quote for the entire project without detail info.

If you are taking pictures of private homes or business, your scheduling will get very complicated and is often out of your control.
