I do use SRaw1 for indoor nightclub/party shots, where most often than not its upper body/head shots, I don't need 21mp for that, but everything else full Raw.

i'd imagine the smaller filesize would allow you to take more images in series, which might be interesting. i know it would be for me, but the t2i has only one raw filesize...

hope this thread isnt just for xD owners..
I forgot one of my memory cards when i took a trip to Texas Renaissance festival this last week.. not wanting to shoot in JPG, i tried out sRAW on my 40D.. so in a pinch, it came in very handy and allowed me to get more shots onto my 4gig flash card.
I have no plans on printing any of them, but they looked great on my screen.
but for the most part, i shoot full raw.. when i have all my memory cards with me:)

cheers

It depends what I'm shooting.. When shooting in low light at high ISO (1600 or greater) I prefer to shooting in sRaw1.. To me, the images just seem that little bit cleaner..

This is what my thinking was. The reduced MP count would help at higher ISOs

How would smaller raw files contribute to cleaner images when shooting at high ISO?

Always fullsize RAW, I tried out mRaw on my 7D when I first had it and got some great shots of a sparrowhawk that appered in my garden for 30 seconds, having no time to change I always regret not having the larger files.

Always full raw. But I will be using one of the smaller raw formats the next time I shoot a lot of images for a time-lapse video. No point in having those massive files when you're going to be shrinking them down to such a small size.

I would never set my camera to record images with anything less than its maximum capability - either in RAW or JPG modes. That would be quite silly in my opinion. Memory cards are cheap.

I always shoot full raw + jpg. The jpgs are handy because sometimes I just want to quickly upload a whole batch when I don't have time to PP them all individually.

By a larger card and a large external drive. This stuff is fairly cheap compared to cameras and lenses.

... i just hold in my trigger. so out of a sequence of 10 photos, only half (if im lucky) will be usable since there is water spray, etc.

I guess this gives new meaning to "spray and pray."

Full size RAW and small JPG, so I can simply send off 'snapshot' pics or initial impressions without having to actually process everything. The straight out of camera quality of the 5DII is ample, and for web use, small JPG is fine.

RAW only. If a picture is worth taking, why do I want to cripple it with some inferior capture. Besides, I paid for all those pixels :-)

Thank you all. After reading your posts and few other links, I have decided to keep it at full RAW + small JPEG for quick Facebook uploads. :)
