I've seen some people mentioning that their beloved 70-200 f/2.8IS mk2 has the same bokeh to mk1......i say NOT.
Yesterday I did some tests in my neighbourhood using my 5dmk2, 70-200 mk2 and a combination of ambient only and some fill flash.
I will say I am extremely happy with the insane sharpness/contrast wideopen with the mk2. However I am still extremely pleased with my former mk1.
I wont justify my $$beans$$ buying this lens. I am merely stating that with my experience with both version I will say mk1 ALWAYS had creamy bokeh regardless of contrast in the background.
When the background has little clutter the bokeh of mk2 is CREAMY/DREAMY but unfortunately I wont say that with many photos with a busy background.
I'm not nit picking just telling my views on the bokeh. In this photo this photo exhibits an interesting bokeh pattern.

However in this photo the bokeh is dreamy

This white lens is simply a tool. I love the versatility aswell as the ridiculous sharpness at f/2.8 wideopen. Shot after shot the accuracy was absolutely accurate and targeted quickly. Regardless of the "sharper" bokeh of the mk2 I still think its pleasing for the most part.
