Like the first shot though, the second shot's color looks off and it might just be my monitor, but it looks a bit too bright too.

No I think your monitor is fine, the color was off on purpose, but it looked better in my head than on the screen

They are nice, I thought perhaps a little desat might make it look good as well, sort of a 70's look, especially with a border around it.
