Guys and girls, if you were offered a 5DM2 with 125,000 actuations, what would be a fair value to pay for body with that many actuations, or would you pass on such offer under any circumstances?? I've never been offered any body with that many shots on it, and I was wondering what a fair price was (if it was) assuming everything else works.

*to me*, what I would find reasonable is average used price - (minus) 50% of the cost of a shutter repair. The shutter might go another 125k... and it might choke next week. But it's a risk that both you and the seller should take equally 50/50, that seems fair to me. :) But you may think otherwise.

But that camera has had a lot more than average use!

Another thing I forgot to mention, for marketability standpoint, it will be very hard to resell such body in the future, people just don't like buying cameras with that many shots, even with a replaced shutter....

If it still takes photos.. then it's still a perfectly working camera. It's not like the seller is lying to him about shutter actuations. If the body looks mint, not scuffs, scratches, well taken care of, and there are no notable dead pixels in the images... then the only worry I would then have is regards to when the shutter might go.

If I, as the buyer, was concerned/uncomfortable, then I'd just shop for another 5D2 with much lower shutter count, or buy new. Just because I might be uncomfortable with the shutter count, doesn't mean that I should expect to low-ball someone for it.

if they're asking anywhere near the $1500 range, I would personally rather go through CLP when it is offered again..

I think around $1780 IIRC but that's when they're offering it. If you're not in a rush I'd wait. They usually come in like new condition with very little use.

My a$$. :D

Actually here's a comparable sale.. For $1900

https://photography-on-the.net …0&highlight=Timescapes+5d

A new 5d2 was a couple hundred more @ the time of that sale.. So I took off $300 so it would benefit the OP.
