Here is the Canadian Parliament Building. It was a lovely morning for photography.

So far I am loving my new 20D! :D :D

Thanks for any comments.

Beautiful. I LOVE the first one. I have to try photography from planes.

Ottawa is probably my favorite city. (I haven't seen much though!) Lived there for 5 years.

Very nice shots, Dave. No reason not to love your 20D, it's a great camera. Ottawa is a beautiful city.

I really like the first one out the plane window. I guess it helps when the windows are somewhat clean too.

Thanks for the comments. I had to edit out some flare on the first photo. Shooting into the sun through curved multipained glass doesn't normally work. I got lucky on this one. There was also enough light to keep the clouds from blurring. I did minus two stops exposure compensation if I remember correctly.

Dan,

You live in Ottawa? You should tke your camera and tripod to the "Canadian light and sound" show that is projected on the parlaiment building. My crew and I caught part of the show on our way to dinner saturday night. Is that shown weekly or was it just a one time thing? Wish I would have had my camera for that.

Dave, this is actually a daily show during the summer time. There is also a similar show during Christmas time but with giant snowflakes projected onto the Peace Tower, and all the trees and shrubs in and around Parliament Hill adorned with thousands of lights...quite beautiful.

I guess living there I tend to take my city for granted but it is a worthwhile tourist destination with PLENTY of photo ops, which I should take advantage of a little bit more:rolleyes:

Dan,

Here are some more of your city. I took all these sunday morning. My company puts us up at the Holiday in about three blocks east of Elgin Street. Ottawa is everyone's favorite overnight. I get sent there a few times a year. I love to go jogging along the river below parliament hill and climb the back steps. I can judge how good of shape I'm in by if I can run all the way up the steps. Sometimes I make it, and sometimes I don't. A lot depends on the amount of Molson consumed the night before.

Nice shot of the War Memorial. Visited your site and saw that you had a photo of the "Chateau Laurier"...funny thing is that I've just won a night's stay for two at this Ottawa landmark and will be going there shortly. Good time to bring my camera and rediscover the city!

Thanks for sharing and hope your next trip here will be as good (especially if you get a hold of some Molson..;) )

Thanks again dan. Hope you enjoy your stay at the Chateau Laurier. I always tell my crews that once US Airways exits bankrupcy we're switching ottawa hotels from the holiday in to the Chateau Laurier. My flight attendent actually believed me for about ten minutes on this last trip. I think there is a photography museum right next to the Chateau. You might want to check that out.
