So I am trying to beef up my protfolio and shoot weddings, so I figured I would need a 70-200. Still cant decide what I want to get. I can either go Canon 70-200 f/2.8, 70-200 f/4 IS, or Sigma 70-200 2.8 Macro II and then also pick up a Canon 50mm 1.4

Right now I am working with a 7D, Sigma 30 1.4, Tokina 11-16 2.8, Tokina 10-17 Fish, and a Canon 50 1.8

If you could give me some suggestions, that would be awsome, and also if you have the Sigma 70-200, post pics. I still cant get a good idea of how good or bad it is.

Serious wedding work you need a min. of 2 of everything and an assistant. 2 bodies, etc. Reliability is a big issue. Go with Canon 70-200/2.8 IS. Trade in your 50/1.8 for the Sigma 50/1.4 and some other primes and you are headed in the right direction.

Welcome to the forums.

As a wedding photographer, you'll also need another body as a back-up. Oh yes, and at least two Speedlites that you thoroughly know how to use.

Excellent advice! I was a wedding photog for 5 years and this was my motto - two (or more) of everything. I had the 70-200 f/2.8IS and other Canon zooms. I used the EX550 flashes and a wireless flash sync. You don't get better than the 70-200 from Canon, don't even think about a different lens in that zoom range.

What I should've said is Im looking to SECOND shoot weddings. I had the Canon 70-200 2.8 for awhile and a 5D2 but had to downgrade for financial reasons. Not looking to solely shoot weddings just yet but thanks for the advice. I think right now I am going to go with the Canon 70-200 2.8 again. Can't afford the 2.8 IS right now. I also have a 580EXII and a 420Ex that I am looking to upgrade. I want two 580 EXIIs.

Thanks again for the advice. Maybe I will just wait a little while and save for the 70-200 2.8 IS II!

A 580EX is an excellent flash - why do you need two? On a backup camera?

As a backup, and also because I have two umbrellas and I like using the Speedlights with them. Two 580EXs would be perfect to have. Can't change settings on the 420
