Update: ya know, I have never taken a photo of a bird, ever. Yours are Audebon (sp?) quality...how did you do it? A 8,000mm lens? Duck blind? Stuffed bird on a stick?

These are great, my favorite is the House Finch, you really caught the variation of red on him, and the pose is outstanding.

No blind, and no taxidermy, but we do use some sticks. And yes, we tend to stay at the long end of the zoom, but at somewhat less than 8 meters. All the shots in this set are from our SX30, a small-sensor camera which has a 4.3-150.5mm zoom lens (@28-840mm eq focal length).

And we have real good relationships with our birds, all of which are very much alive, wild, and free. :)
