I am testing out a 16-35 L-II lens and took this picture yesterday. EXIF should be there. I had center point focus set and according to DPP, the focus point was the little indention just behind the ball. But obviously that area is not focused versus the area behind and left from the ball. What am I doing wrong here? I'm consistently missing focus even with center point selected.

The focus point/s displayed in DPP will not necessarily show you where focus was achieved only which focus point/s were selected. So for arguments sake, if you moved the camera slightly after it achieved focus it is very possible that DPP would show the focus point in a different location to the actual place focus was achieved. However, if you are consistently missing focus it is possible that either the lens or your camera needs calibrating. Time to run some of the well documented tests to prove where to problem is.
