Suggestions - yes: buy a filter.

Without proper protection you will kill your camera (best case scenario) or go blind instantly. And forever. This is no joke, nor paranoia, the sun will permanently mess you up if you look at it, especially through optics.

Mylar filters are relatively cheap, you can get them in A4 sheets and cut the size you need. Other alternatives exist (Ha for example) but very expensive - although results are impressive.
