Not too bad, a little worn out even though I just spent the day in the office yesterday. Huge number of volunteers helping people clean their homes. Really good to see. Going to try to contact my wife uncle to see if he needs a hand.

He told you that himself, did he?

It's rather apparent from the titles that people have earned . . .

Harm wrote in post #11640788 (external link)
even the urban dictionary cannot decipher that one!

Makes perfect sense.

Well that's pretty understandable. Gotta be wundrin' though. Whut kind of homeowner don't know how ya all turn the main valve and shut down the water anyways.

They aren't used to the cold - probably had the pipe freeze outside the main cutoff. And may have come home to discover the foot of water in the house.

Speaking of freezing pipes.....

Talking to a fire services contractor last year and they explained how they'd replace a faulty valve by freezing the water either side of it and then be able to pull out the old valve. This was when they couldn't shut things from the street.

Bizarre construction here....the main shutoff at my last house was originally at the bottom of a 4 inch pipe down 24 inches....not real handy to try to access. I switched it over to a standard meter pit so you could at least get to it without having to remove your clothes.

I have been reading the "how many pics do you take" thread and am amazed at the number of pics some folks are taking. Some of the numbers seem incredible. One post says 5500 pics for a track meet. Figuring a meet is about 4 hours long, that's one picture every 2.6 seconds for the entire time. Another was at 140k for the year. That's one picture every 2.5 waking minutes over the entire year. I am such a lightweight.

I've shot as many as 1600 but that's over a three day airshow.

Fortunately, for a lot of sports/event type of shooting where you do get a high volume of shots, you tend to get pretty consistent lighting and so can get by with a minimum amount of processing. But with those types of shoots it can be tough to weed out the ones to dump:)!

I usually take a series of shots in each pass so I cull out all but the sharpest ones.

Mike! Check out the cover of the NY post today: Return of the Jet-I (external link)

note to all here im a 49ers fan not a jet fan but had to laugh at this.

You need to post that over on the other thread. Crissa is a big Jets fan...

I shot about 12,500 over seven days at Oshkosh last summer...

And actually very little that was due to full-bore 10fps on the MkIII. Didn't even have the MkIV yet at that point. Didn't get that until after I got back in August.
