I've shot as many as 1600 but that's over a three day airshow...

I shot about 12,500 over seven days at Oshkosh last summer.....

I am such a mantie-waist.

Back home, mmmm mud. I said to my son as we helped clean up, "At least we can go home to a clean dry house". It's hard to image what my wife's Aunt and Uncle are going though.

No.1 The Brisbane River is about 100m to the left of this shot.

IMAGE: http://www.steadyhands.net/photogallery/albums/temp/2011/20110115-091713.jpg

No.2 The water reached up to the top of the handrail, ie this is about 1m of water through the second floor of the house. The one on the left is my wife's Uncles place. Nothing was saved. The rear of the house had a lovely pool in a tropical setting.

IMAGE: http://www.steadyhands.net/photogallery/albums/temp/2011/20110115-091723.jpg

No.3 A new version of life on the streets, you whole life dumped onto the street to be carted away to the dump.

IMAGE: http://www.steadyhands.net/photogallery/albums/temp/2011/20110115-091729.jpg

No.4The city council have said as long as people keep dumping rubbish onto the street they will come around to cart it to the dump - for free. Today I saw the Army, my local council, another regional council all with trucks on the streets collecting.

There would have been 3m (10') of water in this street.

In general the majority of the homes can be saved. They will have the wall sheeting stripped out and replaced. No electricity will be connected until a local electrician has tested and certified the house safe to reconnect.

Just think, you are not going to be able to be able to by white goods (fridge, washing machines etc) around here for weeks. Already seeing food prices soar as some distribution centres were flooded.

Here's another, we drove past Southbank on the way home and I snapped this out the passenger side window as we drove by.

Tracey's Aunt and Uncle. As best as can be expected. Plenty of people about to help.

Looks a little orange for a cardinal. Too much sun bleached him?

Nice shot.

Looks like the clean-up is going to be quite extensive Greg. Hope they can salvage the house.

Sometimes it's easier and less expensive to start over. I hope the insurance folks there are not a$$holes like most are here.

We had a lot of home destroyed in wildfires in 2003 and 2007 and a lot of people haven't rebuilt because the insurance companies are beating around the bush about paying off... Other companies will no longer insure in Southern California because of the wildfires and earthquakes...

Bizarre construction here....the main shutoff at my last house was originally at the bottom of a 4 inch pipe down 24 inches....not real handy to try to access. I switched it over to a standard meter pit so you could at least get to it without having to remove your clothes.

TMI There Wooly!

Holy wow Greg.... very surreal! Wow... I hope your wife's aunt and uncle are able to rebuild their lives from such destruction...
