It amazes me....but it appears that the teachers have some sort of bizarre contract here....they take tons of days off during good weather for "teacher work days" and then every year they have to scramble to make up for the snow days that invariably happen. They have the same 180 day requirement here as in NY....but they start classes a month before NY....and only get out a week earlier. Somebody needs to learn scheduling.

With several schools going to year round near us I suspect it is a way for the state to make the move for all of them. I'm not sure I like the idea of year round school (I think kids need the long break to unwind before "gearing up" to go back), but there are some things that would make it easier for us, not only financially, but also for time.

I think there is a school in Hendersonville that recently went to year round school. I don't think that is beneficial to kids...and it sure makes vacations a nightmare.

Its all adding up for him. The bad season, the injury to end the streak, the text message scandal. Makes sense for him to go this time around. Prior to this i always felt he was good enough to keep playing because the NFL currently has a lot of bad QBs. This last season though was the end for him.

The one good thing for vacations is that you can take them during all 4 seasons, not just summer. I think they get 3 weeks break 4 times during the year around here, plus the usual holidays.

We use to have a school district here that was year round. The way it works is that there are 4 quarters, fall, winter, spring, summer. The students take 3 of the 4. The school is occupied the whole year but the individual kids experience little change other than which season is their off season.

No that would have been great! He did it without announcing it. ESPN got wind of his registration papers with the NFL.
