So it's timezone dependent. Here is Chicago it was at 6:21pm. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

What the heck is a tarheel anyway? It doesn't inspire a sense of quickness and agility. Sort of sounds slow and sticky. And do you really want to name your basketball team after an Oompa-Loompa? I mean come on already, there is no way an Oompa-Loompa is going to jump more than an inch or two off the ground. It's no wonder they lost.SO I totally went to Wiki to see what it said about where the term tarheel came from... I did not find the explination that *I* grew up hearing... Interesting. Jenn, gone back to novice photographer...

It just says "someone from NC". I did fine some mention that it might have something to do with turpentine production from a long time ago. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Well the story I heard as a child was related to the Outer Banks. There is a content to the sand that is black and sticky... And when you walked along the beach it would stick to your heels... leaving you with a 'tar heel.' Jenn, gone back to novice photographer...

During one particularly intense battle, the troops from Carolina held fast when the rest of the line was collapsing. An observer is quoted as saying the Carolina boys stood their ground as if they had tar on their heels. People that know me call me Dan
