Hey, I had model trains when I was a kid:)!

I just never caught the bug as an adult -- oh well.

But it sounds cool, Tom!

I'm sort of the same way. As a kid my best friends dad had a massive setup in the basement. He use to have meetings and I think there were several guys who were all doing the work. I admire some of the setups I have seen built be friends and such but just don't have the time to indulge myself.

Model railroading really is a social hobby, and many (if not most) model railroaders belong to clubs. It affords them the opportunity to be involved in a major model railroad, usually more than could be done by any individual at home.

The other part of it is just sitting around, shooting the breeze about this and that. Put two model railroaders in a room together, and they will talk for hours about nothing but trains. (not much fun for wives)

Hi guys....

We're home from our day of just screwing' around. We brought home some Chinese take-out for supper....yum.

I purchased a new locomotive for the home layout......I'm trying to act nonchalant while we have dinner, but I'm really dying to get in and run it.

I broke a rule I'd set for myself. I wasn't going to buy anything modern, and was only going to run 4-axle diesels, but this (external link) is the one locomotive that would make me go against that decision. Union Pacific took a group of SD70-ACe locomotives, and turned them out with custom paint jobs that are tributes to the railroads that have be swallowed by the UP. From memory: The Southern Pacific, Western Pacific, Rio Grande, Chicago Northwestern, MKT, and Missorui Pacific were all honored with an engine in custom livery.

The SP engine is the most striking (IMHO). It uses a combination of the old Daylight colors as well as the Black Widow paint scheme of the 40's and 50's.

The model I bought is engine #1996, the Southern Pacific tribute engine. Since I'm primarily an SP modeler, it was a 'must have', even though it's all wrong for the era I model.

NICE!!!!!! :D

I'm sad for this little girl... My mother told me I was beautiful inside and out. The fact that *I* look in the mirror and see a woman who is bigger than she wants to be... and got too many rolls... It makes me sad that this little girl is growing up with the "you're not beautiful ENOUGH for me" feeling... :( She's not beautiful enough for her mom... therefore her MOM is giving her these injections... That's tragic. And well... personal commentary... her mom who says she too has been doing botox for years... ain't all that...

Chief I believe I told how I owned a Santa Fe model train. Needless to say I destroyed it as a child :( I wish to own it again one day as my father gave it to me as a Christmas present.

Do you have any pictures of your setup?

Waste of good ricin. We need roving bands of Ninjas who simply spirit people away never to be heard from again...

I posted this a few days ago. I've added more track since then. What shows in these pictures is about half of what will constitute the finished layout.
