So, fill me in on something, iPhone users -- I hear that the 4G service is not so good -- you have to be at a wi-fi hot spot hot spot to connect -- is that true? And, for the iPad do you tether that to an iPhone or does it have built-in wi-fi or what?

I haven't tried tethering my iPhone to the iPad but, I do kow that my iPhone 4 is much improved over my slow 3G. Surfing the web is much better with the iPhone 4.

I can imagine, but I heard it only works in hot spots??

I got my wife the 32GB Wi-Fi model since we use Verizon. So we either have to surf at hot spots or buy the MiFi thing from Verizon. It was like $250 so I don't think we will be doing that.

The phone works well in hot spots but, is just as good without it imo. Waiting for a page to load on my iPhone 3G was very frustrating. It's a difference between night and day with the iPhone 4. For almost two years I couldn't get service where I lived. It would work well when I'm not home and on the road. AT&T had recently put a new tower in my area and I get 4 bars. I could walk around my house and not get a drop call. :)

We got between 8-9 inches of snow....it is still spitting and sputtering, but nothing so serious. My sister was supposed to leave Fayetteville for NY....but she is doing some serious rethinking of that plan. We talked to some friends in Richmond....they said they had freezing rain and now it was turning over to snow....the roads are a real mess.

Bizarrely enough, family in NY reports no snow on the ground....have bummed grandkids and nieces and nephews that got sleds, toboggans and such....with no place to ride them. I invited them all to come visit. Now I have a very cranky brother, son and daughter that fail to see the humor in my suggestion. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh....what Grinches.
