We got about 5 inches through the night. Been snowing all day, but it just seems to be replacing what is melting so no new accumulation.

Had to go to the store this morning. We were out of milk and bread. Usually the day after Christmas is a bad day to go anywhere, but since it snowed, it was PERFECT!!! Target was pretty quiet. Made shopping that much easier. Came home and played with the kids in the snow, now the little one is taking a nap while big sis plays her new Wii game.

Nice! I've been sent some pictures from down there... Pretty impressive snowfall for you guys!

I just made it home... I've been at my folks house since Christmas morning. I have 8 inches at my house...

Morning folks. Another inch of rain in the last 24hrs takes us over 12" for the month. Is it time to collect the animals in pairs yet? Supposedly this rain event is far from over with a lot more to come. Up north we've had one cyclone and another to come soon.

I woke at 3am for a quick drink of water and found we had no power, but could see lights on in the adjacent streets. Low Voltage cable fault that has just been fixed, or rather the faulty bit isolated and us lucky people have power again.

I just spent the last two hours shoveling. I should have done so yesterday. The snow on top was fluffy but underneath was 2~3 inches of near ice. It was a real pain to chop up.

So is there one service who could be considered the "top performer" in terms of speed as well as availability? I realize that "4G" is still in the process of being defined, at least I've read that. Apple/AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint?

Oh, and hey that weather! We've had a number of severe hits out here in recent years, maybe three major storms over the past 15 years. First there was a big rain storm that had the Columbia River overflowing its banks, which around here was fun -- including the major hotel overlooking the river that ended up with its ground floors under water and with streets covered in town here.

A number of years ago we had a snow and ice storm with the cars in town coated with maybe two inches of solid stuff -- you coldn't go anywhere until the weather broke and you were able to actually pry and chip ice off your windows and whatnot.

We had a memorable one that started when I was on a winter/Christmas/New Year's road trip with my daughter and granson a few years back. It was bad enough driving through Oregon's Blue Mountains (bad snow handling) and the Wyoming lower highway through the Rockies, but then after a quiet and dry time in Denver, we heard that a large snow storm had been happening out here and was now headed out toward the Denver part of the Rockies.

The three of us threw it together and headed out, but it was evening when we hit the pass west of Denver and snowing hard. But the worst was when we hit the Columbia River Gorge. For a stretch of about 30 miles, snow and ice had coated I-84 with no attempt by the state to plow it. It was about 3:00 in the morning, so I guess why bother, right? But we had to get home, so we just headed in and through...made it the whole trip in one piece whith just a front-wheel drive Honda!

4G is well defined, 100mbits mobile, 1 gbits stationary for the downlink. Trouble is no one can hit those quite yet. LTE and WiMax are probably the data throughput leaders (eventually) but HSPA+ has a bit of a jump on everyone. None of the current 4G networks are really 4G capability though. Their throughput is not all that stellar.

Ah, OK, I probably forgot what I read. But dang, it's irritating listen to these guys touting their service, knowing that it's misleading and in a year or two you will just need to upgrade your gear.

Verizon needs to find a horse and climb on....they can't seem to make up their mind from one minute to the next as to which direction they intend to head. They still have the best overall coverage from coast to coast....but they need to focus on bringing their entire network up to speed.

I think Verizon has a pretty clear plan CDMA for voice and LTE for 4G. Sprint is all over the map as they have CDMA, WiMax, LTE, and iDEN. Verizon had a few coverage issues as they were upgrading their network, but they have invested a boatload of $$ getting their network up to date.

Sarcastic JJ is sarcastic. Other than that he's pretty much on the mark. The 4G minimum requirements were actually lowered a bit, and now T-Mobile's 3.5G on crack can be called 4G according to the standards board.

Had a fun run today! :D

Heheh, wouldn't mind one of those. Also, I need to clean my sensors. I have dust bunnies on both cameras. :(
