Driving home from work was a nightmare this morning and it's a good thing I know how to recover from spinning. Good thing I took that stunt drving class.;)

Glad you made it home!!!

I am home... my roads haven't been scraped... And now we've got a couple more inches of snow... WOW!

I'm glad I did. On the way home, I saw two cars and a pick up truck in a ditch.

Oi! I didn't catch Julian's post about the drive home. I've sorta forgotten about snow/iced roads honestly... They suck, that's about all I remember. I miss snow, but, eh, I'll pass on the iced roads.

Yeah, a couple years ago we had a heavy snow here right before Christmas and my grandson had to go into a hospital in Portland. I had to both transport him and his grandsom through a lot of terrain to the hospital but I then had to fetch my daughter and drive all across the urban residention part of Portland. Three times I ended up sliding, spinning then stuck in snow drifts and needed strangers help to push and pull my car out -- made it through the day without doing any damage though.

It never fails here....we have a big snow and we start having a rash of house fires. The local department is on their second working house fire in less than an hour. This is not a great night to be a firefighter....20 degrees....60mph wind gusts and sustained 30mph winds. Wind chills approaching -30 degrees.

On my way home I saw a car with a crunched in back end on a wrecker... in the middle of a flat straight away... going to fast for conditions anyone?? LOL

I'm sure there's ice under it all but right now... my roads are nothing but snow! We've not even seen the plow!

Never fails! Thoughts are with them.... I got a scanner for Christmas!!!! I've been listening to the road crews all evening... they're having a tough time as well... been a great Christmas to get a scanner that is for sure!

It's pretty bad when one of our main 4 lane roads was still white into late this afternoon.... The road I live on hasn't seen a plow at all.... and the snow started yesterday morning...

Well apparently the snow plow drivers are all meeting at Denny's a midnight    LOVE my new scanner!!!

It's an uber fancy one... I think it's digital.... I do know it will run trunking and conventional scanning at the same time... I have a LOT to learn about it... Dad said it is quite complicated and he just quickly entered a few frequencies for me Christmas day! LOL So I am hoping while I'm off work to get some of it figured out and more of it programmed... When my dad says it's complicated... I know it's going to be a pretty steep learning curve for me... he's programmed his own personal scanners for years... LOL

Depending on where you are, snow ranges from 8-18 inches....some of the higher elevations have in excess of 2 feet....throw in the high winds and you have a most unpleasant night.
