This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new editing tricks.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture, re-sized to exactly 1000 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being re-sized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 4 Days (96 hrs) and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #330".

This game will end at 7pm GMT on Thursday, December 8th. Have fun and enjoy.

I tried a tilt shift look for this - my first actually. All done in PSPx2
Rotated slightly - cloned out people - brightened - clarified to 20 - saturated for the tilt shift look (overly saturated) - selected middle area and use blur on the rest.
Thanks for a fun shot!

I'll have a go.

Nik Color Efex Tonal Contrast (Shadows 30, Midtones 30, Highlights 30, Saturation 20)
Made a copy of the layer and adjusted levels to bring out detail in the sky.
Applied a layer mask to bring back the original foreground and church.
Selected whole image and transformed to correct perspective.
Applied a very slight curves adjustment to increase contrast.
Reduced size to 650 on the longest side.
Unsharp mask (Amount 40, Radius 1.0, Threshold 0)

Great entries this week folks - thank you.

Lore - good fix here, I like the ageing process and border and the muted colours.

Whazel - For a first attempt at T & S this seems to have worked OK and the colours are not too overdone.

Surgeonhawkeye - I really like that and it is a very striking fix - creative with well chosen colours. Well straightened.

Bobn15 - Good straightening and interesting sepia toning. Looks a little unsharp.

sllo - Effective straightening and good cloning. Not sure about the depth of green on the grass.

elfy - Good choice of understated colours and nice level of straightening. Great detail in the sky and subtle well balanced sharpening.

My choice this week is elfy, closely followed by surgeonhawkeye.

Take it away elfy.

Thank you very much. First time entering a contest on POTN so this is a pleasant surprise. :)
