Black sky, black water, some haloing around trees...all pretty typical of an image that has been overcooked.

the photo was late at night, which is why the water is so dark. where is the haloing? where the leaves meet the sky?

any suggestions on making it less "overcooked?" is it mostly in the saturation?

It's got a certain charm to it but apart from the street light being on, ugly colour casts and deep shadows, I can't see any advantage over shooting during normal daylight, unless of course you lack a ND filter.

I was just shooting at night because it's my first dslr and I wanted to see how it did in a long exposure night scene. really just testing the camera. the hdr thing was an afterthought. but there's something about it that I like.

I'm sure a day scene would look a lot better.

thanks for all the feedback, everyone.
