Thanks guys....shot at f5.6...235mm. I was about 500 feet from the jet standing on a wall in quite literally 25knot winds. For an old fart I was pleased I got it, I didn't fall off the wall, and I also got down without hurting myself. Dec 11, 2010 10:05 | #10 dtw757 wrote in post #11432197 Used to have a 100-400L. Found it too heavy and too big to take on the road. That's why I did the 70-200/1.4TC thing. "Price"(cost) is a relative term with 2 different meanings. Me, I can afford the price but can't afford the inconvenience of a heavy lens. "Overpriced" is a relative term too. Most of the objections to this lens seem to be based on an individuals guess of the price made weeks before it came on the market and when it didn't match those expectations, people called foul. When/if they come out with a new improved version of the 100-400 lens and it has a list price in excess of the current model, people will call it overpriced too and threaten not to buy it. That's the nature of this camera stuff. Not a personal attack on you, I'm 100% happy with my decision. My decision to buy it was what was best for me. I hope you are enjoying your 100-400L as much as I enjoy my 70-300L. I see. Well yeah, I tested the 400mm and it's pretty darn heavy! I don't have it yet My Website
