Just wanted to share these photos I prepared for the pilot featured in them.
Desaturated everything but the yellow for this.
Really like the exposure of the pilot in this one, but the airplane is blown out. Didn't print this one for him.

Dec 05, 2010 21:38 | #7 Sadly on that day there weren't many keepers of him in the air. Lots of slightly OOF, motion blurred or super soft shots. The P47 was flown a few weeks earlier and I got a few great in the air shots...but he was flying the F8F Bearcat that day, as is normal. Plus, I wanted to use mostly shots that you could tell 110% it was him.

Who is that btw? That one's already a little bit of a crop. Origional shot included 3/4 of the tail. Looks great as an 8.5x11 print. The pilot's name is Carter Teeters.

Dec 05, 2010 21:47 | #11 Yeah, I know what you mean. If I'd been taking pictures for him as a pre-planned gig I wouldn't have focused on that a bit. I try to get shots that include the pilots as often as I can anyway, but the airplanes are the main focus when I'm shooting airshows and fly days.

Dec 05, 2010 21:55 | #13 Sadly, it's not here yet. Restored, first flight and flight testing is California. We are all sitting on pins and needles waiting for it to head up here. And when it does arrive it gets to sit next to the Bf-109 and the FW 190D-13 Dora that's already here. Oh and there's an ME-163 Komet in the window. Sadly the Dora and the Komet don't fly (although they could). Too rare or something. There's also an ME-262 in a hanger getting closer and closer to flying someday soon.

cicopo Goldmember More info | Dec 05, 2010 22:08 | #15 At screen resolution the flying shots look great. What size were you hoping to print them? Pilots may not have the same expectations re sharpness photographers do. A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought.
