Hoping someone can help me out here. My PS actions have somehow disappeared out of the blue. My actions folder is empty and nothing shows up in the actions palette in PS. I'm the only user of the computer so I know that no one has went in and deleted them. Any one else ever experienced this? Any idea on how to recover them? I guess this is one thing that I haven't really backed up :(

If in fact the folder that normally held them is empty I would check your recycle bin. Your actions don't have to reside in the Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Actions\ folder (windows). I keep mine in a separate folder and load them from there.

I have never heard or seen Photoshop deleting the action files all by itself. If the action is deleted from the action panel it will not end up in the recycle bin as it is only deleted from the panel and should still reside in the folder that it originally resided. I would do a search of your drives for *.atn files and see if they somehow were magically moved. If you do find them you can either move them back to the action folder or simply double click them from where they reside and they will load into the panel.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Thanks for the info....I'll do a search. They may be located elsewhere because I had to bring them over from a previous version of PS. I'll let ya know what I find.

Edit.....sure enough, I had them saved in a different folder. For some reason PS was looking in the wrong location. Thanks again for your help! :)

Does this include your default PS actions too? Where was PS looking for the actions?

PS was pointed to the default PS actions folder (which was empty). I had my actions saved in a completely different location. When I loaded them, I assumed that it would import them into the PS actions folder but I guess it doesn't. For some reason, PS must've hiccuped and returned to it's default.
