Hi There,

anyone know what the technical term is for time between shots, i mean, i want to know how long it take for a P&S camera to be ready for the next shot. i've been looking at camera specs and i can't find it.

You can check frames per second in continuous mode, unless I'm not understanding.

i saw that, but what i'm looking for is how long (how many seconds) before the camera is ready to take the next picture.

In my experience it is wholly dependent upon how "fast" your storage card is. The faster the camera can process and save the sooner it will move to the next frame.

My experience with the "SDXXX" is that with a fast card I get a shot about every .75 seconds. But this will vary depending upon subject, lighting, speed, resolution and battery strength. This is in "continuous" mode.

The camera seems to use it's internal memory first - as a cache I believe - so the first 5 or 6 shots go at the stated speed of .75 per frame. After the first 5 or 6 the speed decreases to about 1 or 1.3 seconds between frames. There is a "write" caching delay as can be seen when letting up on the shutter release after about 10 to 20 shots as the camera saves the frames shot to the card. My experience is that the frames shot while close enough together to seem almost video frame like are still far enough apart to be "jumpy". Still pretty darn good for a P & S camera.
