Wow ... everybody but the HAWK today. All pics taken through the glass and pretty heavy snow (all day ... and still snowing!) using the trusty 7D and 70-200 f/2.8L. SOOC images were shades of gray so these are pretty heavily processed

1. Male N America Cardinal from a distance

2. Male American Goldfinch from close range

3. One of my favorite Mourning (I wish a hawk would come and EAT YOU!) Doves

4. White Breasted, (Morty Seinfeld) Nuthatch

5. Titmouse from about 3 feet

6. Junco? Female maybe? They've been hanging around but are typically on the ground. 8-10" of snow changes things.

7. Male Downy Woodpecker who ...

8. ... gladly gives way to this girl!

Fun way to spend lunch hour working from home today!

Thanks guys. Yeah, the snow. Shoveled off the deck last night. Another 8" of the white fluffy stuff last night and today. More on the way through Tues night and possibly into Wed. Lake Erie is a very large, natural snow making machine this time of year!!!

Andrew ... and that was only about HALF the variety there today. Those that didn't make the list included black capped chickadee, house sparrows, yellow throat sparrows, blue jays and probably a host of others I can't recall right now. Actually, there are so many because of the snow, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. With a Canon, of course!

I love how you caught the cold in these images, Dave. Well done!

Lovely series, Dave. Obviously, you are caught in some lake-effect over there. And, you are right, shooting from the comfort of your own home is the only way to go. Just bait the area you want your shots in and watch 'em come in. Couldn't be easier to get some decent quality....and my fingers rarely get cold this way.

My red-bellied hasn't found the suet yet, although he defintely saw the downy fly off from it earlier yesterday. If I had to pick a favorite, it would likely be the Junco. These guys just have a special place with me. And, I LOVE how you name your birds. Morty kills me! LOL. All I can come up with at the moment is "white wing" and "pretty." Yes, I'm just THAT creative.

Straightening...lol. Every time I straighten the horizon, I hang the picture crooked.

Looks like you were in my backyard-same shepard's hook, cake holder and bird variety (including the dove). I'm curious about shooting thru glass, 'cause that is what I keep trying. But i don't have the same IQ. You got some good shots! And on an obviously cloudy day. Care to share your technique? I'd be grateful- thanks. Rog
