Ok, so I'm graduating next week and will be leaving Blacksburg. I have a couple friends that I had been meaning to do shots of but haven't gotten around to it. One is a Kawasaki 636 and one is a Camaro. Thing is, we don't have the winter wonderland anymore that we had 2 nights ago as the snow is thinning out. Where would you shoot? I don't just want to stay in a parking garage. as that's not very interesting.

What you need to add to your kit is what we call "Location Hunting". Go out & do it, & good luck. Or pray for more snow. ;)

Yeah, I've been out driving around. Unfortunately the usual backgrounds that look good just don't look that great right now. I've got a few areas that might work for the bike, but not sure about the car.

Ok. So I did some scouting today around town and there's 2 places that would be ok. I have to drive out to where I shot my friend's Mustang and the grey Street Triple and see if I can make it work up there though.

Given the choice, open parking lot with the sun setting behind a hill or on the side of a road with a fence on the side of a mountain sun in that direction?

If I can get through the gate on the fence then the latter choice will be the best. If not, I'm not sure. This was shot after getting through the gate:

Fence and you can see the area below the fence where the mustang was parked:

I like the location in #1 best. Try to wait for a day without clouds to reduce their reflections in the body.
If you use #2, get farther from the fence & try to throw it out of focus more. Or at least don't have it growing out of the bike.

Why are they both rear shots? Got a fetish? ;)

I plan on driving up there tomorrow to see if I can get down to where the mustang was. If not, I'll probably just go to a local parking lot and then shoot some in the middle of a lonely road.

And I just picked ones that I had on my flickr already that showed what I was talking about. Being that my time is limited, I'll be shooting on Friday. Says that it will be partly cloudy so we'll see how it turns out. That's as clear as it will get for a while though

Ended up going to a completely different place that I found yesterday. Editing the photos now.

Here's a preview:
