Ive got a 40D and, what i hope is a good working 1DmkII comin..

i have 3 cards but i doubt ill always take both bodies everywhere i go, so the question is...

What problems will i encounter when taking a cf card from the 40D to the 1D if any? image count issues?

or should I invest in new cards.. these are ultra2 and extreme3 cards

I don't think there are many issues. I would personally reformat them in the camera you plan to use them, but other than that, you should be fine.

Yup, and you should see no difference this way than if you used dedicated cards for each body. I routinely switch cards between my 5d/7d without issue...but I always format them when inserted into either camera.
