What is the correlation of the pocket wizard remote, transmitter, sekonic 358. I was looking at the st-e2 wireless transmitter but it seems like everyone is using pocket wizard. And what kind of pocket wizard remote should I use. I saw a video where everything is attached to...well everything but didnt explain as much.

The optional RF module used in the Sekonic L-358 is fully compatible with all Pocket Wizard radio receivers. This means that you can conveniently trigger your strobes or flashes that are hooked up to PW receivers with the light meter to take a reading.

There are two kinds of PW devices, the newer ones that are E-TTL compatible and the legacy ones that are used just for basic triggering of flashes or strobes without any means of controlling the flash output level. Althought the RF-enabled Sekonic meters will work with all PW devices, they only work with the new PW devices if those devices are set to non-E-TTL mode.

The least expensive PW device is the Plus II (legacy device). The most expensive is the MultiMax (legacy device) which has a lot of bells and whistles but is not E-TTL compatible. And in between those two are the MiniTT1 and the FlexTT5 (new E-TTL compatible devices). The MiniTT1 is a transmitter-only device whereas the FlexTT5 is a transceiver.

So if the PW is connected to the lightmeter, it will make a reading and automatically set the right stop for the flash output?

Ordinarily, the PW is not connected to the Sekonic light meter. There is a RFmodule that fits inside the meter to make it compatible with PW devices. However, if you don't have that module, then you can connect a regular PW transmitter to the meter via a short PC cable.

But either way, this allows you to trigger the lights with the light meter so you can take a meter reading. The meter will tell you what aperture you need to manually set the camera to to get the proper exposure from the strobes or flashes. You have to set the power output level on the strobes or flashes yourself; the meter won't do that for you.

Just as a side note, the meter does not have to have an RF module or be connected to a PW Tx device for it take light meter readings. You can trigger the strobes manually yourself to get the reading but it's more of a pain to do it this way than just triggering the strobes with the meter.

I guess this depends on your definition of everyone.:D

There are a whole raft of radio triggers on the market now. Your global location may have a bearing on which are available to you. Pocket Wizards are generally available anywhere.
