Winter Second Shooting

I was privileged to be able to second shoot for a local photographer this past weekend. I had a blast and I really enjoyed second shooting. The wedding day was really cold. 40 deg with 35 mph wind gusts. Made for some challenging shooting given that the majority of our shots were done outside for the better light. Here are some of my shots. I'd love to hear any feedback you all may have.

1. - A train went by these tracks probably once every 5 or 10 minutes

#1 - A neat idea.

#2 - What I see more than anything is a TON of red, and his eyes look a bit weird too, but the creamy background is great.

#3 - A nice detail shot.

#4 - I like it, but I'd like to see a little more depth in the shadows.

#5 - I like the concept but the tilt is unnecessary and it's pretty green in tone.

#6 - It's a cute moment.

#7 - I love your lighting here, but I'd push the contrast maybe a hair more, but that may just be me.

I HATE being colorblind! I just don't see the red you are talking about but I believe it's there. I'll pull down the red slider tonight and i'll tone down the work I did on his eyes and see how that looks. I'll see about pulling out some of the green on the 5th shot too. Thanks for the comments!

Love 1, 5 and 7. I see the red AuroraSkye is talking about in 2, especially between his eyebrows. But I like the shot.

are you using flash triggers or the built in slave/master function on the flashes?

I used the built in infrared trigger on the 580 to trigger my 430. I borrowed the 580 from the main photog and I have to say, it is now on my must purchase list!

Ok I tried to do a little work to them. Pulling the red out was hard for me because I really cant see a difference being colorblind with red/green. I pulled down the red slider in lightroom and I also warmed it up a tiny bit. I got rid of the eye processing too with the exception of a little brightening

We're jealous of the ring shot with the train, it's a great idea.

#11 B&W is outstanding. Great job!

The retouch on the grrom is better; he's still a little red between the eyebrows but not as much and his forehead looks more neutral.

You think the eyes look better untouched, processed like above or maybe somewhere in between? And color wise is it best to just keep it b&w? I don't really know how else to deal with the colors. I'm using lightroom.

The Ring shot and the kiss shot are really beautiful images. The B&W versions you redid are really great as well. I think you did a good job overall.

The train shots are great, the set is very good, thanks for sharing
