I just received a WD 3TB drive and it included a RocketRaid card with two SATA connectors. Is this some kind of Windows thing? Or is WD trying to get me to buy another 3TB drive?

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Long story short, it's there in case your system has trouble seeing the full 3TB capacity. For the technical details, see here (external link).

Ok, thanks for that. I looks like I'm ok since I'm on OS X.

Yeah. Windows only has trouble with certain (almost entirely older) hardware, so not everyone will need it.

Just clarifying for anyone else stumbling on the thread :)

Is this because of the BIOS limitation that I've been hearing about? Windows not supporting 3TB, that is.

BIOS and Windows do support it, just not as a boot drive. And some controllers have badly written drivers that can cause problems, which is what the bundled card is for (they know the drivers for it work for sure).
