Single strobe shot through the flower.

Now this is a cool shot, focusing must have been a pain in the butt though. Can you elaborate on this?

Been follwing you and pham for a while, ryan. You guys are the reason I signed up and started posting. I gotta question for you though. On these shoots how many shots of these models do you take to get those few amazing portfolio pics?

I dunno? You just shoot and shoot. Then weed through them later. Can never go back after the shoot to do it again so you just shoot as much as you can. Once you get your setting down and your concepts or poses in mind. Then all of the images should be good. It will just be a difference of which composition is better and which pose fits it.

Indeed, I did this outdoor on a flowerbed. Camera 1/1600 shutter @ f/8. I shot it with a TTL cable to bring the flash behind this flower (left of image just out of frame and it is point toward right of image). The flash has to be rotated slightly toward the camera, this way the background is not illuminated and reflected light from the opaque stem does not get to the camera. The challenge was to keep the flash out of frame with my not so long arm.

For your next trick, get 2 flashes... put one on low power behind you in the Isetta, and the other up above the camera and to the left, pointing down.
