just out of curiosity... you've got a 1.8 ... why ISO 500? ( was it in a darker room?).

Besides WB, for me the picture came across just a tad bit "too close"...seems I had to "work" to see the whole photo. Otherwise a nice portrait, indeed.

Yeah my room was real dim, i just pulled out the umbrella a started to take photos. my sb600 power was probably too low 1/16-1/8. thanks for the advice, i should have pulled out the 18-105 lowered iso and bump up flash. i think i got the hang of it now :|lol

color a little off on 1st one... I like the composition and lighting (kind of a, "im here to play ball" sports lighting feel to it). But crop out the distracting background light.

2nd one, color much better, but I'm not sure the story you're telling me, though... is it the background or is it you; or even the subject to your right? (seems leaning to the left makes me wonder what you're trying to make sure gets into the photo).
Nice snapshot, indeed, though.

The 2nd photo I was leaning in I put the timer on 2 seconds so I was trying to hurry up and get in front the camera. I really should get a remote

Thanks

Oh good - after I wrote that, I was a little worried it could be taken wrong. Glad you found it funny. What I should have also said is that I have lots of shots that are even worse - I am still working on look for that stuff when I shoot. Normally, it is only after I upload them that I see those sort of "gems"!
