The problem is that we always trying to say that the least gear is enough and no necessary for more or it will not make a big difference, in fact the more you can use gear the more you get creative and the more control you can do, and maybe ideas, i challenge any masters or pros working in commercials or portraits or even many events to work with one light only for entire shots, sometimes you need only natural light, sometimes 1 strobe, sometimes 2,3,5.. so the point is what you can do with 1 light or with 10 lights, i am sure there are applications that you can't do with 2 lights, so just first know what your shot should look like then you can decide if you need 1 light or more, i swear i heard someone said that 2 lights were not enough for the shots he was after even he knows how to use 1 light only.
