It never ceases to amaze me how many folk get into arguments on message boards over the sillliest things and it always seems to be the people that jump in that fan the flames

More adventures using my flash off camera, I am amazed at the creativity it has opened up for me in the cold winter months...

Great shot Moppie! :) :)

Aren't forums wonderful! Amazing bridal shot Ryan - the lighting is killer. You made her the center of that picture and she just looks beautiful. I'm glad she is pleased :)

Hopefully my future wife will let me fly out to where you are to get our engagement photo's done by you and Pham - then I will love her forever. :)

Keep it up Ryan and Pham! You both are such a great inspiration to me.

They are indeed both really great wedding photographer :D

I just might do that when the time comes :) There are some pretty sweet rundown buildings around here, with bunches of graffiti that would make for some great edgy shots. I just wish I could shoot all my own pictures ya know? It would mean a lot more to me knowing that I took the pictures....but there will be other things to worry about I'm sure.

Just to get the topic back on track ----

Distortion - wow, so much fuss about such a small issue.

There's a plugin in Photoshop under "Filters' that can help you to easily fix lens barrel distortion. It takes 1 minute if you feel that you can't live with it. Good photos (for a wedding lol)

how about more bride photographs?

Aurielle Bride ~ The Winter Wedding

I also see nothing wrong with Ryans photos...In the interest in dropping the subject, I will say no more than that :-)

Pham, I love your use of a single light, and you post work!!
Im not sure I like the blue reflection to the bottom left, but my screen I am on now is not big enough to see the photo as a whole, so maybe that is why I noticed it more :-). You two are lucky to be able to work together, you both do some great work!!!

Ralph.. it was the middle one.. the smaller 20 incher that comes with the deep octa

Thanks Pham,

I spent some time comparing the different deflector sets ups with the 39 DO and 53 midi last weekend. I'm starting to gravitate towards the more contrasty specular look with the silver lining exposed when using only the inner diffuser. I've also experimented with the diffuser hood on the Midi, but haven't had a chance to set up in a locations large enough to see how much it controls spill. It does drop the specularity down from the close quarters testing I've done.

agreed.. the set up you mentioned with only the inner diffuser is my fav also.. has that just right look to it.. hint of specular and soft blend

never been disappointed after using that set up..
