Great balance! This is how strobe should be mixed with daylight IMO.

Care to share your method of metering both ambient and setting strobe power?

Could you not get the light closer to stop the background blowing out like that?

Thanks, Dick

I didn't really meter, just went off what I thought would look best :o

The strobe was right out of frame. I could have just as easily stopped down a few stops to bring the sky out better, but I was trying to shoot as shallow a dof as I could (2.2 was the widest I could go even with stacked filters). The sky doesn't bother me me, but I know it bugs a lot of other people.
The sun is practically in the shot (i think in the corner of the shot actually), so it's not like I'm going to get any detail from anything around the sun shooting at f/2.2.

I would REALLY love to know how you obtain this look in your photos. I love the processing, but I have never been able to duplicate this look.

Just got a beauty dish Monday for my AB800. Katrina was more than happy to be my test subject. :)
Lighting: AB800 shot 1/4 power through a 22" Beauty Dish-silver finish with white diffusion sock.

This is from my 365 that i am doing. I wanted to do something fun with my umbrella so i mounted my 430 EX II all the way inside of it with a wireless trigger and used it as my light source. It was a ton of fun to do, hope you all enjoy!
