Hey Guys,

I'm trying to record some videos inside my house and would like to use some continuous lighting gear! Can anyone recommend a good brand to use such as lowel or photoflex? I was thinking of buying photoflex lights because of their ability to use softboxes and whatnot. I'd really want to be able to shape my lighting to what I want.

Hi Marlon,

If you're referring to the Photoflex Starlite tungsten halogen lights I think they're a good inexpensive solution. As I'm sure you know, if you're using hot lights you must make sure you not only get lightboxes intended for hot lights but they usually have a rating as to the acceptable and safe wattage you can use with the modifier.

Photoflex makes some good lightboxes that are suitable for continuous hot lights and if you really want some top notch stuff you should look at the Chimera boxes but I'll warn you in advance.... they are amazingly pricey.

Chimera also makes some very nice hot lights if you want to go that route.
