My wife got a 50d recently and the other day we discovered that the RC1 ir one remote I use form my 7d does not work with her camera. She has asked for a wireless remote for Christmas and I am wondering what my options are.

I did a quick search and found lots of "this one works great" followed by a dead link to Ebay.

Canon RC-6 wireless remote should work, it works for my 60D.

I have been pleased with the Vivitar RC-200. It works on my 50D, 40D, and 1D2. For the price, I just had to try it. To my surprise, it has worked very well.

Wait, are we talking about the 5D or 50D?

This should work fine, plus it has a dual use of triggering flashes =)

Since it uses radio, the range is extremely long. I have been using these for a while, never let me down.

Until the introduction of the 5D Mark II, cameras with the N3 remote control (via cable) didn't also have receivers for IR remotes.

But now when the cameras can handle video too, they do, since the IR remote is the only one that can also handle video (provided you don't have the RC-5).
