The car was stationary and photoshoped to look like it was pulling into the pits?

Actually, I don't reckon it was.
Looks like it could have been shot during a night race though.

To the OP, I don't mind the idea, but would have liked to see the car a little bit sharper.

Edit...Ooops, on a second look, I think sigma pi might be right.
If the car was moving, the shadow of the gantry on the car should be motion blurred as well.

It's a fair cop guv. It was shot with my a590 and I wanted to jazz it up. I felt I went too far - hence the posting. I didn't like the rear and missed the gantry shadow entirely. I've only been using Gimp (great kit) for a fortnight and am still a bit heavy handed.

I've attached the original and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks for your critique

Ahhhhh You caught me. I was looking at the lights on the windows only :)
I thought the gantry was some kind of graphic

I think its pretty darn good. The lights on the windows was the only thing that made me question it.

Good job.

Technically, in a panning shot, the rear of the car wouldn't be "blurred-out" like that!
And the amount of blurring in the wheels and in the background don't match.

I like it, great idea and nicely executed. It took me a while to get my head around the gantry motion blur, but yes, it definately should be.

My biggest problem with it is the glare from the lights.
