I went to the local zoo the other day and finally managed to catch the last day of their "Lord Of The Wings" show. It was pretty cool - they had about 12 birds, mostly raptors, out and flying above the crowd.

I managed to get only a few decent shots, none of them in flight.

But at the end they brought out a Bald Eagle and allowed people to get pretty close, about 5 feet. A Bald Eagle 5 feet away is pretty darn cool.

These are not cropped. That's close.

Close? This is a 100% crop from one of the pics.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

whoah...those are cool!

There's a guy who has a gallery at DIA that has a huge (30x40 or so) picture of a bald eagle's eye...the whole frame is filled with white feathers, just a tiny bit of beak, but then a big 6 or 7 inch eye!

So these reminded me of it. Very cool.

A couple of "OMIGAWD!" shots... and of Bald Eagles. They're so frickin' close and gorgeous! What a great experience too. Congratulations!

PS: I'm so jealous and won't talk to you anymore - next week you'll probably post some wild Cougar shots and kill me completely.

These are very amazing indeed! :D

Were there a lot of people around? It looks like a quite a few were near by, judging by the reflection through it's eye.
