This is taken at North Lake just above Bishop, Ca. This is one of my favorite places on earth.

Just looking at it makes me feel the crisp cool air of fall. Great shot.

What a wonderful scene!

The composition is great, with many points of interest, including the sky.

I definitively like your style. Will be looking forward to more from you.

Cheers,
Jaime

Nice colors Don! Never been to North Lake. I've been over to Sabrina, Dingleberry, Blue etc, but not North Lake. I'm heading over to Rock Creek Campground for a car-camping trip the last weekend of September. Hopefully the Aspens will be changing colors by then!

Mike -
As I am sure, you know the fall color change depends on the nightly temperatures.
Some years it can be early and some years it can be destroyed by too cold of nighttime temperatures.

I will be up in Eastern Sierra for a week, so I am hoping for some early color as well.

If you ever get a chance and you are feeling better, you should try the loop that you can start at North Lake, go around Sabrina and come out at South Lake.

You mentioned that you have been to Blue Lake. Is that not the most beautiful placed lake you have seen?

That whole area is pretty spectacular! We did a trip to Dingleberry Lake (external link) a few years ago in October. Woke up to an inch or so of snow, which melted after sunrise.

What a beautiful image, stunning, its a pitty there was movement on the water though. It make me sick when i can't get to places like that.

Awesome trip I bet! The boulder field with the switchbacks went on a day hike last spring. We had to hike straight up due to the amount of snow. The switchbacks completely filled with snow. That are is my favorite place to hangout. My parents have a house in Bishop, so I am up all the time.
