I've already got the B&H Impact stand/umbrella kit, so I don't know if that makes a difference with studio lights, but I'm looking into getting 1 of these 2 kits. I'm not sure which direction I should be headed towards as far as going the AlienBees route or the Calumet route.

I've also got RF-602 radio triggers, so I don't know the compatibility with these studio lights.

I've been considering getting:

Alienbees 2x B800 Flash units ($280 x 2)
Alienbees Vagabond II (when they are available again) ($300)

or

Calumet Genesis 400 2 light kit (includes stands umbrellas) ($470)
Vagabond comparable power unit (I need suggestions on this one) ($???)

I know the common pros/cons between the two like:
1. AB color shift issue
2. Genesis slow recycle time
3. Genesis can use elinchroom modifiers?

Obviously the price is a lot cheaper with the Calumets, but I don't plan on going any further than these lights as it's just a hobby for me.

Future prices of modifiers is also a concern for me.

Both are great lights. Aftermarket modifiers are available for both so thats of little importance in your decision. Right now the genesis are seriously backordered if that matters. I use the AB's and the color shift isnt a dealbreaker but I dont shoot at the bottom of the powerband much.

Are the genesis still backordered? On the site it says in stock and ready to ship.

Also how well does the Vagabond II work with the genesis lights? Or is there a comparable or better alternative around the same price?

The 400s and 200s are available afaik. It's the 300b that is backordered.

The genesis would require and explorer xt which is around $350 iirc.
