Daughter processed some images in CS5 through ACR and now when the RAW images are opened in LR looks like some to the adjustments made in ACR are showing in LR.

Is this normal (since they are the same engine)? Or did she some how make changes to the RAW images?

If LR is set up to read metadata from "sidecar" xmp files then ACR adjustments will show up.

To go back to original settings, just click the Reset button in the Develop module, or you can go through the History panel on the left side of the Develop module.

But, if you want to keep the things your daughter did intact while you work in Lightroom, you will want to first go to your Preferences and turn off the automatic reading from and writing to metadata to files.

So you are saying even if you thought you only imported the CR2 files (RAW) we still got the sidecar files.

Assume ACR is like LR and the adjustments made in ACR are not made to the RAW file?

LR / ACR will always read a sidecar file if it's there on import / opening of the raw file.
If a sidecar file is added after LR imported the files, LR will ignore it, unless it's told to read it.

Yes.
Edits are stored in a sidecar file (ACR) or a sidecar file or the catalog, depending on prefs (LR)
