Asking the Experts - Right lens for my shooting?

Looking to get sharper and better color. Filling in the range under my 70-200mm.

Honesty been back and forth between Canon 17-55mm 2.8 IS, 24-70mm 2.8 and 24-105mm 4.0

They all have pro's and cons but am not sure of the best answer for my needs. Not opposed to other suggestions....

I too am interested in hearing peoples thoughts between the 17-55 and the 15-85. I want to know if IQ is similar. I know 17-55 is supposed to be amazing, I would love the extra reach though.

The IQ is simular.

Ha, I have known about that site and charts forever, I have no idea why I never just looked there. Indeed they are very close, I guess it's a choice between aperture or reach...such a hard choice for a broke college student....I wish I could have both!

Keep your eyes open and look on ebay. Prices on the non-IS version have been dropping as of late. (That's the same one I have). I'd like the IS version, but I'm more than happy with the non-IS.

You forgot to tell us why you are looking for something to replace the 18-55. What do you want the new lens to do that the 18-55 does not?

I'll fill you in, it is a single from 2001 released by a French electronic music duo, called Daft Punk. This is know in the USA because Kanye West used the line "Harder Faster Stronger Better" in his 2007 song "Stronger" (in addition to using costumes Daft Punk wore in a live performance for the song in Kanye's music video).

I am assuming you are thinking of the 70's show Six Million Dollar Man?

For your purposes, the 15-85 IS is the obvious choice. Smaller, lighter, better range, great sharpness, and IS. I sincerely doubt you need the f/2.8.

Thanks for the insight....how about IQ as compared to the others?
