I know some may not be interested but, Lee has started shipping out the Lee SW150 filter holder for the Nikon 14-24. This is good news because later down the road in 2011, Lee will be adapting for other lenses that have bulbous elements.

I have my preorder from 2filter.com as one of the first 10 to get shipment of this filter holder. So, it should be a few more weeks before I actually get mine.
Anyways, just posting this for those landscape photogs. :)

That looks interesting, but I wonder if light leaking will be a problem because of the built in hood. It might cause strange reflections or flare, but it's hard to tell from the picture. Let us know when you get one if that's an issue or not. Now if only Lee would increase their 77mm WA adapter ring production!

I'll post my results if there are any issues with light leak. The baffles that surround the filter holder will help in reducing reflection.
Here's a neat video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGFL-hC678g (external link)

The NDs look like a relative buy since the normal Lee filters are 10X10 cm for $100 and the SW150 size 15x15cm are $148. Over twice as much filter (100cm2 Vs 225cm2) for 150% the price. Of course the other way to view this is that the Lee 10X10 NDs are overpriced.
I'm sure they will work out fine, the extra baffles look like an improvement. However, I have some doubts about adapting this holder to the 17 TSE as the requirements for shift and tilt are really pretty demanding, and the hood clamp design is very diameter specific. The 17 TSE doesn't have any hood at all to clamp to.

The best way to get this holder on the lens is where the lens cap is placed. I'm sure Lee will find a way to rig something from that. :)

Ah yes I see the extra baffle now but I'm wondering why the didn't just add a sleeve on the holder to match up to the longest portion of the lens hood. That way it's covered all the way around from light leaks. Although that might cause vignette issues. Either way it's still better than no filters at all.

Just to entice you a bit, here's some samples of that lens on a 5D MK II. :)

Haha those are very nice too, I have been longing for something a bit wider but was looking at the samyang 14mm. It's not quite on par with this or the Canon 14mm but it's a heck of a lot cheaper. Unfotunately it doesn't take a filter holder... Either way a super wa won't be in the budget til atleast next summer...

I agree. The Samyang is a nice piece for the price. I wouldn't be surprised if Lee produces an adapter for that lens.

Then the filter holder will cost as much as the lens.

Probably but, there will be some who are willing to spend that kind of money. :)

You always post some of the nicest camera pr0n. You won't get as many images of this elusive holder in a full-on review posted elsewhere on the web. Thanks for all the candy, Julian.

And I hate you.
